Everyone in the zone has stories about seeing charismatic megafauna in the oddest places – munching on apples in abandoned orchards or browsing on shoots near a checkpoint. But the best way to see the large game is to go off-roading, preferably in a jeep. This one, provided by the Chernobyl Fire Department, fell into a boar wallow when I was researching Chapter 4.
