Lake Hlyboke is in the polder on the left bank of the Pripyat River, where radiation levels rival those in the Red Forest. But the polder gets far less traffic, so you’re more likely to encounter wild animals in broad daylight. In less than an hour, I saw a moose, a wolf, and three roe deer.
