This picture was taken in November 2005 when I accompanied a British colleague to the zone. He had a decent dosimeter that didn't go blank at exposure levels in excess of two milliroentgen like mine does. The maximum levels we measured in the Red Forest that day approached seven milliroentgens! We didn't stay long. But it was long enough to pick up some funky dust.
