Parts of the Belarus-Ukraine border in the zone are among the most radioactive outdoor environments on the planet. Some spots are as “hot” as the Red Forest. But the only way to get to them is to bushwhack in Belarus. The sole paved road to cross the border, depicted here, traverses the zone’s cleanest sections.
