In the zone, you are more likely to see white storks on signs, like these stylized birds above a greeting from the Ukrainian zone’s forest rangers. Black storks, which build their stick nests high in trees and away from people, are rare in Ukraine and Belarus. But they have made a comeback in the zone, especially in Belarus where the species has become common.
