Egret Swamps
Thousands of ducks, black storks, grey herons and great egrets took off soon after we arrived at these peat mires near the abandoned villages Kriuky and Kulazhyn, close to the international border. This white egret was among the last to fly away. The birds are flourishing despite very high radiation levels.
